As a way of playfully explore the gestural qualities of mark making and drumming, I filmed myself trying to draw in a drummerly way, then adding a drum solo to the video, following the gestures of the drawing.
I then ended up with a collection of marks, which I turned into a digital font. I then recorded myself playing a drum solo on my MacBook keyboard, while simultaneously creating a sort of abstract transcription of the drum solo, which again might serve as a graphic score to create new music.
